ARANGA - Beyond The Stage

ARANGA  is a visual and narrative chronicle of Indian performing artists, focusing on the lives and practices that exist beyond performance. Derived from the Sanskrit raṅga, meaning stage or performance space, This book continues the Madras Margazhi project, shifting focus from musicians to dancers, and brings together a curated series of portraits accompanied by contextual reflections by AMAR RAMESH. Moving between everyday spaces, the book documents practice, discipline, and the routines that sustain artistic life over time. Through photography and documentation, ARANGA records Indian performing arts as a lived process shaped by consistency, repetition, and years of work on capturing artists by Amar, A meaningful collaboration with 50 eminent bharatnatyam dancers across Mardras and beyond.
